Special Points About a Holiday at South End House

South End House is a very special location, and not suited to everybody.  Being some distance away from the other properties on the island (including ourselves) any problems which may crop up during your stay cannot always be resolved immediately.  Although there is a track which runs the whole length of the island to allow tractor access to South End, in practice all deliveries and servicing for South End tends to take place by boat - this makes a stay at South End more boat orientated than at our other houses.  In addition, there is a lot more responsibility involved with the boat which we supply you with for your stay.  Firstly, on the morning after your arrival you will need to walk to the North End of the island (takes about 45 minutes) to collect your boat and receive your boat lesson.  Also, there is a 'running mooring' for keeping the boat at South End, the operation of which will be explained to you.  In addition to this, in the event of bad weather, we may ask you to return the boat to the North End of the island for reasons of safety.  At the end of your stay, we also ask that you return the boat to us at the north end so that it can be serviced and cleaned ready for the next arrivals.  If you find the seclusion and peace of South End appealing, but do not want to be quite so dependant on boating, then we would recommend the Bungalow at the other end of the island.  Having said all that, South End is one of our most popular houses, and unquestionably one of the most spectacular anywhere.  People return year after year to enjoy the unique experience of Shuna's South End House.
